Your zodiac sign is the sign the Sun was in when you were born. Most of the year the date alone settles it, but not on the day the Sun moves into the next sign, and the Moon changes sign every two to three days. We check the whole day and tell you when your birth time decides.
Enter your date of birth to see your zodiac sign (Sun sign) and your Moon sign, with the element and modality of each. Add your birth time if you know it: on a day the Sun or the Moon changed sign, the time decides.
The Sun enters each new sign around the 20th of the month, give or take a few days, and at a different hour every year, so the sign dates printed in magazines are only approximate. The Moon moves much faster and crosses into a new sign on almost half of all days. Without a birth time we check the whole day and name a sign only if it held from start to end. With a time and a city we work out the exact moment in that city’s time zone, summer time included.
The rising sign (ascendant) changes about every two hours, so it needs an exact birth time and place. My Cosmic Code works it out in the app, with every planet by sign and house, the aspects between them and a full natal chart wheel.

The sign the Sun was in when you were born, also called your Sun sign or star sign. Enter your birth date above; if you were born on the day the Sun changed sign, add your birth time.
One or the other, never both: at the minute you were born the Sun was either still in the first sign or already in the next. The changeover moves by up to a day from year to year, so your birth time settles it.
The sign the Moon was in when you were born. The Moon changes sign every two to three days, so on many dates the birth time is needed to know it.
Two ways of grouping the twelve signs. Each sign has one of four elements (fire, earth, air, water) and one of three modalities (cardinal, fixed, mutable). Aries, for example, is a cardinal fire sign.
No. This is the Western (tropical) zodiac, measured from the seasons. Vedic astrology measures against the stars, about 24 degrees back, so your Vedic sign is often the one before. The app’s Horoscopes show your Vedic Moon sign too.
