Crying in a dream: meaning

What dream books say

Crying is read as release. Folk tradition even treats tears in a dream as a good sign — grief leaving the body so that relief can follow. Crying alone is often read as sorrow you have not had space for during the day, while crying in front of others points to the wish to be seen and comforted. Waking up with real tears is common and is taken as the dream finishing work the day left undone. Seeing someone else cry is read as empathy, or as a feeling of your own that you notice more easily in another face.
