Swimming in a dream: meaning

What dream books say

Swimming is read as moving through your own feelings, the dream book’s oldest picture of how you handle what flows beneath the surface. Swimming easily, in clear water, stands for being at home with those feelings and trusting yourself in them. Swimming against a current is traditionally read as struggle — effort spent on something that keeps pushing back. Murky or cold water points to an emotion that is hard to see into, while swimming far out of your depth speaks of a situation that has grown bigger than it first seemed. It can help to notice where your days carry you, and where you are working hard just to stay afloat.
