Whale, dolphin or shark in a dream: meaning

What dream books say

Great sea animals are read as large forces rising from the depths. The whale stands for something vast and old — deep feeling, intuition, a part of life bigger than you — and swimming beside one is linked to being carried by it. The dolphin is read as help, play and intelligence, a friendly guide through emotional water. The shark points to a threat under the surface: a person, a worry or a feeling that circles before it strikes. Being swallowed by a whale is the old image of a long inner withdrawal before a return.
