An old man or woman is the classic figure of wisdom. Tradition reads them as experience speaking — advice you already carry and have not listened to yet. An elder giving you something points to a lesson or responsibility being handed on, while a frail or confused elder is read as worry about ageing or about someone older in your life. A stern elder suggests judgement or conscience. Growing old yourself in the dream is taken as looking at life from a longer view. The words an elder speaks are often worth writing down on waking.
