Sleep paralysis in a dream: meaning

What dream books say

Being awake but unable to move is read as feeling powerless in some part of life. Folk tradition gave it many names, often a weight sitting on the chest or a presence in the room. Dream books see it as helplessness asking to be noticed, not as a harm. Trying to scream without sound points to things you cannot yet say, while sensing a figure nearby is read as fear given a shape. It is a common experience, and naming it often makes it less frightening.

A question for you

Where in your waking life have you met something like this lately?
