The black panther moves unseen through shadow, so it is read as hidden power, mystery and the wild feminine in many traditions. It stands for strength that does not announce itself — confidence, sensuality and instinct moving quietly. Being stalked by a panther is read as a powerful feeling or person you sense but cannot see clearly; being chased as fleeing from your own force. A calm panther walking beside you is taken as making peace with that power and trusting it. Its glowing eyes in the dark are read as intuition watching on your behalf. It can help to notice where in waking life you are stronger than you show.
Does the traditional reading fit your dream, or did it mean something else to you?
My Cosmic Code has a private dream journal. Write a dream down and the app picks out the symbols in it, shows what dream books say about them and, over time, which words recur across your entries. The journal is stored on your device only.
